Private Game Night

Cards after supper. By invitation, at somebody's house in LA.

Three Wisconsin words you'll hear down here: supper, up north and bubbler.

How a night goes

The snowbank, by the stairs. Every night.

  1. 1

    Bring one thing.

Each player brings one item at the night's level, give or take 10%. You come with nothing but your item. No cash, no tips, no charge.

  2. 2

    Supper's out.

The host puts out supper. Nate brings the curds and the beer from back home. Drinks are in the snowbank by the stairs.

  3. 3

    Cards after supper.

At the card table, under the lamp. The deal goes around the table. Nobody's paid; nobody pays.

  4. 4

    The picks.

The top three choose from everything on the bar, in turns, until every item has a new home.

  5. 5

    A name in the snowbank.

On the way out, drop a card in the tub: who should sit at the next table?

Host a night.

You open your home and fill the room from your own world. You put out supper. Nate runs the rest, and bring the sign, the cards and the snowbank.

Guests come by a host's invitation. There's no way to sign up to play.

The night

Six players came down to Ines's place. Supper was out by seven, and cards went in the air after.

Six cameras came in, and six went home. The full story of the night goes here, told without tying anyone to an item or a result.

At the table

Ines (host) · Odile · Rafi · Soren · Tavi · Thea

Run by Nate. The deal went around the table. Names appear by each player's own yes.

Supper

Put out by Ines: braised short rib and lemon bars.

The night's coaster

No. 5, stitched like a mission patch. Every player took one home.

Photo slot
Stand-in: the deck everyone signed. Shot so the signatures can't be read, unless the whole table chose full names.

The deck everyone signed

One photo slot on every night's page. The deck goes home with the host, next to the keepsake.

Goodnight from No. 5.

Posted a week later, once everyone was home.
